The Pope of Pop conquers the ICC fortress

It is without doubt that one of the most spectacular events in  Kraków’s cultural landscape at the turn of 2012 and 2013 was the exhibition "Andy Warhol Contexts" organized  by the local International Cultural Centre. The exhibition enjoyed great popularity both among Cracovians as well as foreign visitors. The event, in accordance with its title, showcased the Pope of Pop’s artistic output in different contexts, focusing on cultural, ethnic, political or even religious issues. Apart from the core event, the organizers prepared a whole array of additional alternative attractions, such as workshops for the youth. One of them took place on the closing day of the exhibition, that is on February 10th, 2013.

It was a workshop conducted by Marek and his school student Michał Ku¶, the intention of which was to familiarize the young audience with Andy Warhol’s artistic legacy. The visitors were given sets of worksheets which they were supposed to fill in while being shown around the exhibition. It is worth noting that the ICC premises burst at their seams as the number of participants surpassed the expectations of the organizers. The limited space capacity of the place occurred an obstacle not to be overcome. Those who, despite standing in a long queue, were refused to join the guided tour, had to stomach the disappointment. Definitely, Marek and Michał had their fifteen minutes of fame, a prophetic promise made by the Pope of Pop in the days of his glory.
